Flowers at Your Wedding

Flowers have been a part of weddings since the beginning of time. Traditionally the bride's bouquet has been white or pastel with touches of color for accent. Though trendy brides are choosing flowers and colors that reflect their own personal style... Bright and bold, Wildflowery and wispy, or anywhere in between!

Flowers should blend with your gown and you. If you're petite, it doesn't make sense to carry a large, overwhelming bouquet. With the many options available, finding just the right one for your size and style is not a problem.

Maids of honor often carry flowers similar to the bridesmaids. Theirs can be identical to the bridesmaids, (creates a uniform look), or differentiated in some manner, to set them apart. Recent trend is towards a clean, unified look.

Bridesmaids often carry traditional nosegay, hand-tied, or presentation style bouquets. Occasionally they may carry a single flower, or wear a wristlet.

Grooms generally have a lapel boutonniere to match the bride's bouquet, and male attendants wear a boutonniere complimenting the maid's bouquets. Fathers and Grandfathers are often recognized with a boutonniere, as well as any special friends or family members who are partaking in the wedding. Often the groom's is unique to him, with the rest of the men wear the same, again creating a classic uncluttered look.

Corsages of single roses for the mothers, symbolize the new family's union. Fancier corsages are often given to recognize Mom's specialness. Don't forget Grandmothers, and any other special women involved in your ceremony.

Consider sending a bouquet to that special friend or relative who is unable to attend.

Booking your wedding flowers

Thank you for considering K.M.D. Florist to design your wedding flowers and decorations!

Trusting your florist is a very important consideration when choosing who will provide your flowers. We urge you to select a florist who you feel comfortable with, and who you feel shares your vision. Reserve the date with your florist as soon as possible, as we can only accommodate a limited number of weddings per weekend.

At K.M.D. Florist, our bridal selection guides and photo books are always available for in-shop browsing. We offer a one hour free initial consultation with one of our Certified Bridal Consultants. Our consultants are sometimes available for walk-in meetings; however we suggest scheduling an appointment. If you do book your wedding with us, all following consultations are free.

If after the first hour-long, free consultation you are not yet prepared to make a deposit, but would like meet with us again we would be glad to do so; however, we do charge a $20 per hour fee for such consultations. This fee is non-refundable, but if you do book with us it is applied towards the wedding.

We require a $50 deposit to officially reserve your wedding date. We offer a 3 week grace period from the time of your initial consultation, where we will "hold" the date for you if you wish. If that time elapses and you have not yet put down your deposit, we automatically re-open that date for other brides.

You do not need to know all of the details of your flower needs in order to book your wedding. You just need to choose a florist who you are comfortable with, and whom you trust to deliver beautiful flowers for your special day. Select the florist, and put down a deposit on the date as early as you can. We can schedule a meeting with you closer to the time of the wedding to finalize your choices.

Additional Services

Rental items are available, and are contracted separately, due to the nature of rental fees and security deposits.

If you would like us to handle additional decorating needs (specialty linen rental, specialty lighting, balloons, etc), we can gladly do that for you! Fees will be assessed on an individual basis.

"Drop-off" deliveries within our standard local area are billed at $10 per location. If you choose this option, be sure to designate a friend or family member to be at the location, as you will need them to place everything in its proper spot.

Setting up the wedding (placing altar pieces, pew decorations, etc) is billed at our standard rate of $40 per hour for one to two person set-up jobs. When the timely setting up of your wedding requires more than two people, the fee is an additional $15 per hour per person. All time is charged round trip from K.M.D. Florist.

Personal floral service is also available, for the same hourly fee. This service provides you with one of our qualified bridal staff members, to remain at the church and assist you and your bridal party with corsages, boutonnieres, and all floral incidentals.

We are available for hire to transport arrangements from the ceremony to reception site.

Out-of-town delivery and set-up services are definitely available! We have provided wedding flowers in several coastal locations from Camden to Portland. We are glad to travel, and even with the delivery fees are still very competitively priced with those regional florists. Delivery to such locations is billed separately, and is $15 per hour round trip from K.M.D. Florist for "drop-off" deliver; $40 per hour for 1-2 person set-up team.

We do our best to estimate set-up fees ahead of time; however, if we are doing any on-site set-up for you, we require you provide us with a credit card number to secure final payment of unforeseen incidental charges. You will receive notice of any such charges.
